"This week we had the devastating news that Aspire gymnastics club in St Austell is closing. This is a gym that some of our gymnasts have been attending for over 10 years and with over 350 children on role they will now be left without a local gymnastics centre. There are few gymnastics centres in Cornwall that can accommodate this amount of children so therefore these children will, as you can imagine, miss it greatly.

This gym is not just about the sport, obviously it is a huge part but it is also about making friendships with others that share the same passion and love. The site manager Sharon is not just a coach to the girls in the gym, she is also an amazing support both physically and emotionally to all of the gymnasts. She has proven to be such an asset to the club it would be a shame for her to be lost from this sport. She is therefore trying everything to open her own gym in order for the children to continue on their gymnastics path.

Sharon, along with her team of fantastic coaches, wants to also continue (as she has done in the past at the site) with pre-school classes, gym ability classes, which is a specialist and integrated provision provided for those with any disability and tailored to individual needs covering many aspects of all gymnastics disciplines. Many are referred from healthcare providers knowing how much participation benefits their quality of life.

As a group of parents who support their children and who have great faith in their lead coach, we are trying to raise enough money to help with the set up of a new gym. As you can imagine, rent on a premises the size we require does not come cheap and gymnastics equipment can cost thousands alone so therefore we are trying to raise enough money in order for Sharon to get things off to a flying start."

Huge thanks to Tammy Johnson is organising this fundraiser.
